I recently had some wheel time with the all-new Porsche Macan Turbo. To say I was impressed would be an understatement.

As Agent001 wrote when he first reviewed it earlier this year in Germany, "it's not a smaller Cayenne, it's a larger Cayman." While there's a touch of hyperbole there, I will say it is easily the best driving sport-utility vehicle I've piloted probably ever aside from the BMW X5M and X6M. It is truly shocking what a Macan can do.

So, how do you improve upon it? Simple, you improve the fuel efficiency via diesel power. While I don't frequently see the Cayenne Diesel around town, I must say I do see a helluva lot of Q7 TDIs. Perhaps Porsche is seeing if it can take a nibble of that market share or grow the diesel market.

According to Porsche's VP of Marketing for Porsche Cars North America (PCNA), we will see a V6 diesel with approximately 245 horsepower in the U.S. in late 2015 or early 2016. Expecting pricing to slot in between the Macan S and Macan Turbo, but start BELOW $60,000 per unit.

Also confirmed, for now at least, is that the U.S. market will NOT receive the four-cylinder Macan that is for sale in the U.K. and Chinese markets.
