General Motors is replacing ignition keys in its newest trucks because it's possible for the gearshift lever to bump the key out of position.
The move isn't a recall, though, so GM doesn't provide a number of vehicles affected. Instead, the issue is outlined in a TSB, or technical service bulletin, that went to dealers last month.
Still, any mention of GM and ignition switches or keys stirs memories of the millions of cars and trucks GM recalled earlier this year to replaced potentially deadly switch defects. Those are linked to 36 deaths, though some might be in non-GM vehicles involved in crashes with GM vehicles that had defective keys.
