One of the few people I have completely unparalleled respect for in the automotive sphere is Harry Metcalfe. This man is a giant.
Unlike the others, he doesn't rely on slick cinematography or a team of folks to produce his content. What you see is what you get. One man and typically he's taking video as though it were a selfie. It seems he's gotten at least one camera guy now though and with good reason. He's obtained some sponsorships and he just went on a properly epic journey.
Metcalfe took his very own Ferrari Testarossa to the Sahara.
While there's plenty to watch in his 30-minute clip below, this got me thinking: IF you had the chance to map out your DREAM road trip, WHERE would you go and in WHAT vehicle?
Over the years I've read about some remarkable features. One of my favorites was a buff book that took a Mazda Miata to a California ski resort where it hit the slopes, and then raced back to the coast to lay on the sand and take a dip.
But, I want to know about you. If you could make a dream road trip come true, what would it be like and where would you go?
Back in 1995, Richard Bremner drove a Ferrari 512M all the way from the Ferrari factory to the Sahara desert for Car Magazine. To celebrate this great story, I decided to drive my 1987 Ferrari Testarossa to the Yasmina Hotel next to the Erg Chebbi dunes in the Sahara Desert, the same hotel Richard stayed in twenty years ago.
