While there's absolutely nothing wrong with a standard, run-of-the-mill Lamborghini — if such a thing even exists — there's something particularly special about its limited edition units. We're talking about cars like the Diablo and Murcielago SV, and Gallardo Superleggera.

Now that the Gallardo is gone, it's time for the Huracan to step up to the plate.

Captured in these very first spy shots, it's clear that Lamborghini's research and development team is preparing an all-new Huracan to join the fleet. At the moment, everyone is betting on it being called the Huracan Superleggera. I think that's a pretty safe bet given the company's history with Superleggera models.

Although this is pure speculation, if a more hardcore Huracan is birthed you can expect it to receive a slight power bump, a more advanced and stiffer suspension, a large spoiler, plenty of carbon fiber and an overall lighter weight.

...Most striking about this prototype are the hidden single exhausts at the rear. Covered with wire mesh, the exhausts are in the same position as those on Lamborghini’s Huracán GT3 racer, although dummy units still exist in the same place as on the standard car.

The stickers on this prototype also reveal that Lamborghini is working with carbonfibre specialists Becker Carbon. That means it’s likely that carbonfibre will be used to reduce the weight of the Huracán. The current Huracán has a dry weight of 1422kg...
