This weekend was a big one in the world of motorsports as the 24 Hours of Le Mans was held in France. As the competition of the race continues to grow every year with all-new technology and all-new aerodynamic advancements, it's turning into an even more interesting battle.

In recent years Audi has dominated the podium. With its slew of P1 racers, the four rings has bagged the last five years. Could it take first place again? Well, no. Porsche put a stop to it this year with its 919 Hybrid.

Porsche took first and second in the P1 class. The Audi R18 snagged third. According to reports on the ground, the 919 proved itself reliable without any major drama. Considering this is a brutal endurance race, that's a big deal.

In the GTE Pro class, General Motors' Corvette Racing Team took top honors. This was an especially spectacular win for the team as it only raced with one car — the other crashed during qualifying.

Unfortunately for Nissan's NISMO team, the big let down was the GT-R LM. Plagued with slow times and problematic cars, only one car finished the race. Given it was the company's first go around with the GT-R LM and endurance racing requires years of learning, we think if the company takes it as a "building year," it may have a bright future to come.

LE MANS: Nico Hülkenberg takes the No.19 across the finish line for a Porsche 1-2 finish at the 2014 24 Hours of Le Mans.
