It seems like the BMW M5 just came out yesterday, but for those who have been keeping an eye on the clock it has been around for several years. Not to mention it did just undergo a refresh along with its sibling, the M6.

You know what that means. It's time for an all-new M5 to come around and get the Bavarians back at the top of the podium.

With a slew of all-new souped up luxury vehicles, the M5 has its fair share of competition. These days it's coming from all angles with the likes of the crazy powerful four-door coupes and 550+ horsepower sport-utility vehicles. I have to ask: Why even bother with an M5 anymore? It seems stodgy and old man-ish.

Well, it seems BMW is set to address these concerns with its next-gen M5. Rumored to come with optional all-wheel drive, it will undoubtedly be the quickest M5 to date. That's because we're thinking it will make over 600 horsepower and the added traction plus a dual-clutch 'box will rocket this thing off the line in a much more surefooted fashion than its rear-wheel drive counterpart.

Armed with the latest batch of spy pics, the sedan looks like it has grown a bit in size and will feature an all-new pair of large kidney front grilles that are, of course, integrated into the headlights. Although the vehicle is an early stage tester — it lacks a unique front valence, side mirrors and its own wheels — when you get around to the back its quad-tipped exhaust gives this M5 away. Oh, and check out that massive big brake kit. This should come as no surprise given how large the standard discs on the current-gen M5 are.
