As many have noted over the years, Ferrari tends to operate a bit like the mafia. Everything happens on a need to know basis and you're better off not speaking unless spoken to. Well, not entirely. The automaker does reply to my emails and book me in its products for testing.

When the company isn't asking if it's "funny, like a clown?" it is doing its best to conceal its secrets. That includes putting together some really wacky mules and testing exclusively on the Fiorano test track, which is conveniently located in its backyard.

Turns out though one slipped through the cracks. Images that are rumored to show the real deal F12 GTO have popped up on the interwebz. And, if you ask us, it looks far too detailed and very similar to the Italian marque's special configurator for buyers looking to plonk down hundreds of thousands of dollars.

If this is the real deal — and we think it is — the upcoming GTO will feature more than expected throwback cues. While you may not catch it from the front, check out the venting above the rear fenders and that gas cap. Reminds me of the 288 GTO and the vintage 250 GTO.

Up front you'll notice the extensive changes to the front valence for aerodynamic purposes. In addition, the front fenders that had special winglets/air channels seems to be modified a bit.

While we haven't heard a word about what sort of power this thing will make, we're guessing somewhere over the 750 mark. Also don't be surprised if it sheds some pounds to help it lap Fiorano quicker than the standard F12.
