Arguably one of the world's most coveted brands, Ferrari is an automaker that has allure 99 percent of companies would die for. But it didn't just happen overnight.
The story behind this supercar manufacturer is an epic. Probably not comparable to Homer's Odyssey, but still an epic. According to the latest buzz from Hollywood, Christian Bale has been tapped by producer Michael Mann — known for Heat, Ali, The Aviator — to play Enzo Ferrari.
We're not quite sure how this will work but there's two things we know about Bale:
1) Bale is well-known for his ability to transform into character — just Google images of him in The Machinist as well as Batman and you'll see what we mean; and,
2) He is one of the world's best actors.
Here's the weird thing though. According to reports there's actually TWO Ferrari biopics in the making. One is the one we're talking about and another is going to feature Robert De Niro playing Ferrari. Here's the deal though: Mann's picture is expected to be the better one as he's been putting it together for more than 15 years as a passion project.
EXCLUSIVE: Christian Bale has said yes to playing Italian car magnate Enzo Ferrari in the long-awaited film by director Michael Mann. The picture, which will shoot next summer, isn’t set up just yet. But as we ponder the films up for grabs at the upcoming Telluride, Toronto and Venice Film Festivals, is there a more desirable presale property right now than Ferrari, with Mann and Bale driving the vehicle?
