Dear 001,

Before I start, I'd like to say that I LOVE YOUR WEBZINE. AutoSpies is by far, the best "insider" resource anywhere! Do you guys have any job openings for a car/computer nut? :)

Ok, well here's the deal, I was just at a local California Infiniti dealership today talking to one of the staff (not a sales guy) and he told me something very interesting...I was talking about how Infiniti FINALLY brought the M45 over (known as the Nissan Cedric/Gloria in JDM speak....I'm a JDM freak BTW...I told them to bring this car over back in 1999 as a replacement to the I30) and I was saying how I would be interested in getting one to "fix up" (ala JDM VIP style, check out the attached photo) and he said that they were going to redesign the M45 soon.

I was like "WTF? It just made it here!"....I guess what the deal is, is that Infiniti is going to get rid of the Q45 and make the M45 the "flagship" sedan. My take on that is that they're going after the "performance luxury" thing...kinda like a Japanese BMW I suppose (except everything still works in Infinitis even after a few years go by!)

He said they're making the M45 "wicked" looking with possibly more power which makes me wonder if that means they're leaving the rebadge Cedric/Gloria behind and using some other JDM car (kinda like what they did with the original Q45 which was at first, the JDM Nissan "President" and then the '97+ Q45's = JDM Nissan "Cima"). The Q45 is suppose to return a few years later (redesigned of course) to take over the throne once again.

Now I don't know how reliable this guy is but I tend to believe him since he wasn't trying to sell me a car (this kinda info would make most people wait for the new stuff I think and NO dealership wants left over old stock!) and it sounds reasonable seeing how well Infiniti is doing with their G35 coupe (more performance oriented).

001: We'll be the first guys to put the nails in the coffin of the current M45...Yuck!
