Although the Mercedes-AMG GT R was revealed recently at the Goodwood Festival of Speed, it’s already getting a starring role on the big screen. We only know this now as world-famous director, Michael Bay, has announced an all-new cast member for his upcoming Transformer move, The Last Knight.
While we’ve already seen other stars of the upcoming flick in form of the sixth-generation Chevrolet Camaro as Bumblebee and the Ford Mustang as Barricade, this one is a bit different. You see, the other two were quite heavily modified from their production variants.
Not so with the three-pointed star.
Aside from its black and red paint job, it looks identical to the Mercedes-AMG GT R’s packaging as we observed it at Goodwood in addition to the studio shots. We assume Mercedes is keeping the leash tight on this one. Can’t blame them: the GT R is a badass in its own right and doesn’t require any further changes to emphasize that point.
Oh, and for my Transformers fans. The GT R will be playing the role of Drift.
…Whatever that means.
