The Land Rover Discovery has existed for quite some time although you wouldn’t know it. That’s because the folks at Jaguar Land Rover have decided to give it a different name. Dubbed the LR4 it is pretty much the definition of irrelevant.
While the company’s Evoque, Range Rover Sport and Range Rover have been on fire from a sales perspective, their sibling has been overlooked. We think that may change.
That’s because Land Rover has distributed an image of the all-new Discovery. Our British friends gave us a bit of transparency, too. It will officially be a seven-seat vehicle for the marque. Given that the Discovery Sport and Range Rover Sport’s third rows are laughable — at best — this is welcome news as we're hoping this will be a proper three-row SUV.
Initial spy shots that have captured the Discovery during testing in recent months depict a rather large vehicle though truth be told its quite narrow and tall. This shouldn’t come as a surprise to folks who have been admirers of the Discovery for the past 20 or so years.
Sales will begin in the U.S. market mid 2017. Its world premiere will take place at this year’s 2016 Paris Motor Show, which happens on September 28.
