This morning I found myself scavenging for breakfast in lovely Sausalito, California. There's only a couple places open at around 7:00-8:00 a.m. in the morning, so, I hopped in my press loaner — a Mercedes-AMG GLE43 Coupe — and shot up the Bridgeway.
To me, this place is paradise. Living the life right on the water, I reckon it doesn't get much better than this. While enjoying breakfast at Fred's, I was somewhere in between my first slice of the Millionaire's Bacon when I started noticing a lot of nice hardware passing by at speed.
There was a cherry BMW E30 M3. Then a Ferrari 330 GTC. An early model year Lamborghini Diablo. And the hits just kept on coming.
I knew I had to check in at the village. Cars & Coffee would be pretty decent, I thought. And, it was.
While there was plenty of new and old to appreciate, I found the juxtaposition pretty great. All sorts of enthusiasts were out this morning. But, I found a particular pair stirring.
That would be a vintage Ford Thunderbird painted a pastel blue and a Ferrari F355 Spider colored the very appropriate Azzurro California. My mind started churning. Both are drop tops, both were painted a lovely blue hue and mint examples can be had for about the same price — $70,000-90,000.
If you were living the California dream, I've got to wonder: WHICH would you have and WHY?
