Recently, the 2020 Toyota Supra debuted at the 2019 Detroit Auto Show (NAIAS). While it was a big-time debut, it seems we weren't the only ones let down by the BMW-Toyota joint project car.Basically, it's just a reskinned Z4. SPIED! 2020 BMW/Toyota SupraSimple as that, folks. Having said that, a friend of mine — CW — was out this holiday weekend and stumbled upon this in the ritzy neighborhood of Ridgewood. There you have it. It's the 2020 Supra in full camouflage. I am not sure if it's shod with a winter setup or if this may simply be a entry-level, base spec vehicle. Interesting to note: This vehicle is equipped with the same plates utilized by BMW North America for its fleet vehicles. This shouldn't come as much of a surprise given that a buff book writer noticed the door jamb states that the vehicle is manufactured by BMW.SPIED! 2020 BMW/Toyota Supra And now for the real fun.NOTE: NSFW hot take, below! View this post on Instagram I wasn’t going to say anything about the #A90 #Toyota #Supra. But then I saw the interior - and that VIN badge in the door jamb. “MFD BY BAYERISCHE MOTOREN WERKE AG”?? ?? Really, Toyota? They say in the press release that? “Details Matter.” Umm lol. ? ?? This is how you fuck up a brand. Yeah the door jamb sticker on the production car might say something else, but I’m talking about that interior. ?? ?? It’s 100% BMW with one exception: the badge on the airbag. Literally everything is Z4. ?? ?? I was wondering how Toyota dealership techs were going to deal with working on BMW’s electronics (which, if you know any BMW techs, is an absolute nightmare and unlike any other carmaker’s) but now I’m just as worried for the sales personell having to learn how to deal with everything else. ?? ?? Ladies and Gentlemen, the new Supra Con Job Special Edition!?? ?? #ConJob #BadgeEngineering is #BADengineering #BMW #Z4 #GRSupra #ToyotaSupra #NAIAS A post shared by Jason Cammisa (@jasoncammisa) on Jan 14, 2019 at 9:26am PST
