Hyundai is set to debut the Genesis concept at the New York Auto Show on April 4th, but is already talking official details and pricing on the car that Hyundai says is the first look at the “future architecture and design of a rear-wheel drive premium sports sedan scheduled to grace the Hyundai lineup in 2008.” The Hyundai Genesis concept has a 4.6 liter V8 engine that allows it to produce 300 horsepower, giving it the ability to get from 0-60 mph in 6.0 seconds with an eigh-speed transmission.

Hyundai is hoping to aim the car at the BMW 5-Series and the Mercedes-Benz E-Class giving it luxurious futures like Bluetooth technology, HD radio, navigation and active cruise control. It also has safety futures like front, side and rear airbags, anti-lock brakes and stability control.

Hyundai is also discussing pricing on the Genesis which means that the concept will be very close to the production version of the car. All this luxury and technology will be offered will cost well under $30,000, says Hyundai’s product VP, John Krafcik.
