Tesla is rumored to start volume production of the refreshed Model Y (Juniper) in a couple of days. A new prototype sighting indicates that Tesla might surprise us with a new front design inspired by the Model S/X. The latest encounter also confirms the rear light bar that was previously rumored.

Tesla Model Y is long overdue for a thorough refresh, and insiders have already confirmed that this will drop in a few days. Tesla is expected to start volume production of the refreshed Model Y at Giga Shanghai on January 1, and new information supports this claim. According to supplier sources in China, Tesla guided for a daily output of 2,400 units, a significant surge from the trial-production levels of about 200 cars per day.

This production level corresponds to at least a 750,000-unit yearly production capacity for the Model Y, which is insane. Tesla recently increased Giga Shanghai's capacity to over 960,000 cars per year, but having that much Model Y output is unrealistic. It's more likely that the 2,400-unit estimate is for both the Model Y and Model 3 production lines at Giga Shanghai, which makes more sense.
