 Just months after announcing it would permanently shut down, legendary BMW tuner AC Schnitzer has been saved by a new owner. The shop that has been dialing up BMs and MINIs since the 1980s is thus dodging a bankruptcy bullet.

       
The legendary German tuning house has just been acquired by the AM Group, a Netherlands-based automotive holding company. The transaction is scheduled to officially complete in November 2026. The move marks a major turning point for the Schnitzer brand and for the tuning world. Earlier in March 2026, AC SChnitzer's previous owner, the KOHL Group, announced plans to wind down all operations and sell the inventory by the end of the year after nearly four decades in the business.
