The new automatic transmission on the Maserati Quattroporte is selling so well, that the Italian company has decided to add an additional 8 dealerships in the US. The $116,500 Quattroporte Automatic increased Maserati’s US sales by more than 30 percent last month, and the automaker says it will set a sales record by the end of this year.

The new Maserati Quattroporte Automatic has an automatic six-speed ZF gearbox which allows for smooth and fast gear changing and is powered by a 4.2 liter V8 engine that produces 400 horsepower. Being exactly what the US market demands, the Quattroporte Automatic is pulling buyers away from BMW and Mercedes-Benz.


“The automatic attracts a different audience — 50 percent is coming from people who are not Maserati owners,” James Selwa, CEO of Maserati North America in Englewood Cliffs, NJ, told Automotive News.The eight additional dealerships will also make room for the Maserati GranTurismo, which is set to arrive in October. According to Selwa, Maserati expects an average transaction price of $124,000. Unfortunately, the first round of the car for 2007 has already been sold out....
