Nissan Motor Co., seeking to expand its presence in the fast-growing Russian market, will build low-cost cars under the Datsun brand at the facilities of its Russian partner AvtoVAZ.
Colin Dodge, executive vice president of Nissan, said Monday that Datsun-brand sales could account for a third of the automaker's vehicle sales in Russia.
"Russia is Nissan's largest European market and is going to grow significantly in both size and importance," Dodge said during a visit to Moscow.
