To be straightforward, I am a fan of Volkswagen Auto Group's products. I really am. However, sometimes you just have to call a spade, a spade.

This is exactly why I can't seem to wrap my head around why ANYONE would buy an Audi A3 when you can get a Volkswagen Golf. Sure, there's slightly more attention to detail and a slightly better interior but when you consider the Golf's easily has the best-in-breed interior it's not a total loss -- granted, that may change given VW's recent moves as of late.

Of course the Audi has a better nameplate but at the end of the day would you rather make the additional investment when you can put that money towards a 401K, the greater stock market or shares of a company you believe in? Hell, get some new dental work or something.

Long story short, new renders coming to us from our friends in Germany are speculating that the new VW Golf will get a more premium look and sleeker lines. From what we've seen in spy images and other renders thus far, it's easy to conclude that this next-gen Golf will be an evolutionary product.

That said, if VW ups the ante and gives the next-gen Golf more of a premium look, will YOU ditch the idea of getting an A3 already?
