In the past couple of years there's been a couple of cars that have drawn MAJOR interest on the interwebz. Though it's exciting to see what BMW is doing with its M division, and to see what hijinx companies like Ferrari and McLaren are dreaming up, it's cars like these that get the most attention.
It's the cars people drive everyday, like the soon-to-be-released Audi A3.
Sure, plenty of detractors will say it looks like every other Audi and that it's just a hopped up Volkswagen Jetta. Even if there's some truth to those remarks you have to pump the brakes. That's because folks are in love with the thought of getting behind the wheel of an Audi or Mercedes-Benz that costs less than $29,900.
Even if they walk out the door paying $37,000, the buyer has satisfied a lifelong dream of getting their luxury ride.
Though the CLA-Class has been on the market and shooting the lights out from a sales perspective, the all-new Audi A3 is waiting in the wings. Could it be a disruptor? Well, it's hard to tell. That's because the CLA has more aggressive styling and the A3 is a bit ho-hum, in this writer's humble opinion.
Today though our friend Fred Khaz got to see the Audi A3 in public completely uncovered for the FIRST time. At today's Cars and Coffee event, held at Mazda's SoCal North American HQ, an A3 was quietly tucked away. The driver — probably from Audi of America (AoA) — probably didn't expect Khaz on the scene ;)
So, now that it's out from under the harsh auto show lights, what do YOU think?
