Toyota has issued a safety recall for just around 1,400 examples of the 2023 model year Tundra and Sequoia. According to the Japanese automaker, the problem stems from the steel chain that secures the spare tire to the spare tire carrier on the underside of the vehicle.
Toyota claims the chain links hadn't been welded properly. Reading between the lines, the supplier of the spare tire carrier took the blame for this recall. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration hasn't said a word on this campaign thus far, which is why the supplier's name remains a mystery for the time being.
