A Lancia 037 rally car plowed into the spectators during a parade in Turin, Italy. Twelve people were injured in the incident. An investigation to determine the cause of the crash is underway.
Twelve people suffered minor injuries, and a woman was taken to a hospital with a broken leg on Sunday afternoon after the driver of a Lancia 037 rally car lost control and slammed into the crowd gathered to watch the parade at the Turin Motor Show in northern Italy. Five more were transported to the hospital, while the others were treated at the scene by the medical team.
Footage from the scene shows several cars parading while people watch and take shots of them. The Lancia draws the attention of the spectators lining the route as the driver revs up the engine of the coupe and accelerates. That is the moment everything starts to go south. In an attempt to put on a show, the driver loses control of the car. The Lancia is seen swerving right and into the people gathered behind the temporary barrier, knocking several down.
