Things are heating up in the mid-size crossover SUV area in America – Hyundai launched at the 2025 New York International Auto Show the second iteration of the successful Palisade model, complete with a new hybrid version.

NYIAS was an Asian automaker fief this year – with major novelties from Toyota, Hyundai and Kia, Subaru, and more. Hyundai, for example, presented the eagerly awaited second-generation LX3 Palisade mid-size crossover SUV. The model has been around for a while – it was launched at home in South Korea in December 2024, but this is the US specification, which came with a few additional novelties.

While the design is largely the same inside and out, the base Smartstream 2.5-liter turbo inline-four mill isn't present in North America – the 291-hp Lambda II 3.8 GDi of the outgoing model will be succeeded by a 287-hp Smartstream G 3.5 GDi V6 borrowed from the fourth-generation Kia Carnival, paired to an 8-speed automatic transmission. Additionally, the absolute novelty is the new hybrid powertrain setup, which boasts the 2.5-liter turbo inline-four with electrified help to achieve a combined total output of 329 horsepower.
