General Motors has officially started early demolition work on the historic former Pontiac Motor Division headquarters building in Pontiac, Michigan, which has been standing since 1970. The auto giant hasn’t disclosed any specific construction plans for the cleared site, but keeping it standing and out of use for over six years surely doesn't make sense.

Demolition work kicked off on July 14 at the 300,000-square-foot administrative building that has sat vacant since 2020. Famously known as One Pontiac Plaza, the structure is situated on GM's Michigan campus and is currently designated as Pontiac Engineering Center Building A. Soon, there will be no building A.
