The first-generation Mercedes-Benz GLA was unveiled about 13 years ago and right from the get go it became one of the most polarizing models in the Stuttgart manufacturer’s lineup.
       
Its formula was simple enough, and, as its name suggested, Mercedes-Benz took the third-generation A-Class hatchback, slightly raised its ride height, redesigned its exterior to be more imposing and sprinkled some rugged-looking lower-body cladding to make it look more like an SUV than an urban crossover, which it was.
