Lexus Reports Best-Ever May Sales
Lexus reported best-ever May sales of 26,155 vehicles, an increase of 13.9 percent.
"Luxury vehicle sales have remained strong despite higher fuel costs" said Denny Clements, Lexus group vice president and general manager. "In fact, we believe many consumers are starting to shop for vehicles with gas prices in mind, which may help explain why both our SUV and our car sales are up 21 percent and 15.6 percent respectively YTD."
Driven by America's top selling luxury SUV, the RX 330, with its segment leading fuel economy of 20/26 MPG, Lexus luxury sport utility vehicles continue to lead the sales charge, enjoying best-ever May sales of 13,393, up 13.9 percent over the same period last year. The RX 330 was the luxury utility vehicle sales leader with best-ever May sales of 9,659, an increase of 17.7 percent, while the GX 470 mid-size luxury SUV recorded best-ever May sales of 3,007 units, up 6.2 percent. Sales of the LX 470 full-size premium luxury SUV were up 1.7 percent.
Lexus passenger cars also posted strong sales of 12,762, an increase of 13.9 percent. The ES 330 luxury sedan recorded best-ever May sales of 7,099 units, up 23.9 percent. The
LS 430 flagship luxury sedan posted sales of 2,763 units, up 55.3 percent.
In addition to strong new vehicles sales, Lexus Certified Pre-Owned (CPO) vehicle sales totaled 3,681 units. Lexus CPO sales are up 12.6 percent CYTD.
