A revived legend in the form of the 2009 300 SL Panamericana derived on a reproduction from Hoope’r, Gullwing-AG in Germany, who produced a replica that’s almost identical to the original. Gullwing-America, owned by Arturo Alonso, revised the already spectacular vehicle into a 21st century sensation.

It combines the features of the 1950’s glorious Carrera Panamericana cars with the latest technology, thereby producing an amazing sports car. Alonso’s passion for the iconic Race and the Mercedes began when he raced the Carrera for some years in a Mercedes-Benz 300SE. The body of the 300SL is made using aircraft composite technology. The construction process involved the spraying of a layer of aluminum to a thickness of 0.5mm into a mold over which an epoxy adhesive is places and quite a few layers of 7oz woven glass cloth are then applied in epoxy resin.
