It's not everyday that you get to see a prototype automobile undergo testing. It's also not everyday that you get to see a vehicle engulfed in flames. Now put them both together and that's a relatively unique event.
Unfortunately a next-generation Porsche 911 Cabriolet was undergoing routine testing when it caught fire. According to the report, it was a fire located in the engine bay.
Now although this may sound like a sad report, come to think of it I don't think it should be. That's because if I rack my memory, it seems that every car that has had fire issues turns out to be a sensational product. Take, for example, the Lexus LFA prototype that was burnt to a crisp, or how about the Audi R8 V10 that spontaneously combusted?
I'd say the car's in good company! So, turn that frown upside down Porschephiles, if anything this is just more good news for Porsche's next-gen 911.
