The drive to get American consumers on board the electric car movement hit another speed bump Thursday when Fisker Automotive recalled more than 200 of its $100,000 plug-in electric hybrids due to a battery problem that could cause a fire.

It comes just a month after the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration opened a formal investigation into fire risks in General Motors Co.'s plug-in hybrid, the Chevrolet Volt.

While safety experts continue to affirm the safety of electric vehicles, the recall could reignite concerns about large battery packs in vehicles.
