The eighth-generation Lexus ES, unveiled at the 2025 Shanghai Motor Show, is set to challenge the BMW 5 Series and Audi A6 with a bold redesign and its first-ever electric option. As Chinas top imported vehicle, the ES targets the luxury sedan market with a sleek, modern aesthetic and advanced electrification. Its UK launch is slated for spring 2026, promising to elevate Lexuss presence in the executive saloon segment.

Inspired by the LF-ZC concept, the ES embraces a Clean Tech x Elegance design, featuring a fastback roofline, boomerang-shaped LED headlights, and a full-width taillight bar. The absence of a traditional grille and a charging port on the front fender hint at its electrified future. Trademarked ES 350e and ES 500e models suggest electric variants with a 77kWh battery, offering over 357 miles of range, while hybrid options remain. The ES 500e includes DIRECT4 all-wheel drive for enhanced stability.

Built on a new platform, the ES prioritizes refinement, with a lower center of gravity and enhanced ride comfort. It introduces Lexus Safety System+ 4.0, upgrading safety features. Positioned as a global flagship, it may overshadow the aging LS. With 18,481 US sales in 2024, the ES is poised for success in key markets, blending elegance, efficiency, and cutting-edge tech to rival its German competitors.
