As we noted the beginning of IPL at Pebble Beach, with the G Coupe being the first to get the treatment, it seems that the sportier side of Infiniti may be on to something.
For Paris, Infiniti is breaking out the IPL G Convertible. Problem is that although it is a novel idea, isn't it just a bit too predictable? It almost seems as though Infiniti should have unleashed the beast with its coupe cousin last month rather than save it for Paris.
Keeping in mind that the IPL G is merely a G37 that's had some NISMO modifications done to it, do you think it is a top-notch competitor in the marketplace? OR should of Infiniti sought out some more aggressive tuning so IPL could make a proper name for itself?
Nissan's press release follows:
Infiniti today released photos of its new Infiniti Performance Line (IPL) G Convertible Concept, which debuts next week at the Paris Auto Show. The IPL G Convertible Concept features unique aerodynamic styling, the dynamic performance of an IPL-tuned V6, exhaust and suspension, 19-inch IPL aluminum-alloy wheels, three-piece retractable hardtop and a dramatic red leather-appointed interior.
“The Infiniti Performance Line is designed to push the premium performance envelope for buyers seeking a higher level of exclusivity and driving exhilaration,” said Infiniti Vice President Ben Poore. “IPL promises unique driving attributes from other Infiniti models, without adding stratospheric prices.”
The IPL G Convertible Concept follows the world debut of the first production vehicle in the new Infiniti Performance Line, the 2011 IPL G Coupe, at the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance in August. The limited production IPL G Coupe, which features a 348-horsepower 3.7-liter V6, high-flow full dual exhaust, special sport-tuned suspension and steering gear, IPL aerodynamic styling and sport-style IPL interior treatment, is set to go on sale at Infiniti retailers throughout the United States in December.
