Before I thought we'd see a "Clubman" or a "Countryman" sport-utility MINI, I thought we'd at least see a drop top. I was wrong.
Now, after we've seen the Cooper Coupe during initial testing, spies have caught glimpse of the convertible undergoing some preparations. According to Autocar, the Coupe will make its debut at the Frankfurt Motor Show come autumn and the car built for fun in the sun will see a Geneva Motor Show debut next year.

This is the Mini Roadster, the last hurrah for the current Mini platform, before the all-new Mini family starts to roll out in late 2012.
The Roadster, like its sister Coupe model, is substantially based on the current R56 Mini Cabrio. Both cars will be built at Mini’s Oxford plant, alongside the Cabrio, which is also expected to remain on sale until at least late 2013...
