When Audi officials describe their first-generation TT as an automotive design icon -- a milestone -- for once an automaker may be making an understatement. Since the debut of the concept in 1994, followed by the production version four years later, the TT has dramatically influenced car designers, both students and professionals alike. Its thematic use of the circle, both inside and out, and an adherence to the Bauhaus style of the 1920s that the world recognizes as distinctly Germanic, ended up directing the look of the entire Audi lineup for years.
