The 2027 Audi Q7 marks a meaningful step forward for Audi’s mid-size three-row luxury SUV. After a long run with mostly carryover updates since the second-generation model arrived in 2016, this third-generation version arrives with fresh styling, a substantial power boost, richer technology, and improved practicality—while keeping the Q7 positioned as a balanced family hauler rather than the larger, more opulent Q9 that’s also on the way.

The exterior adopts a bolder, more upright and muscular stance. It’s slightly wider and taller than before, with dynamic lines, a prominent Singleframe grille, and large wheels up to 22 or 23 inches. The real standout is the lighting: available Digital Matrix LED headlights use thousands of individually controllable micro-LEDs for precise, adaptive illumination and glare-free high beams—finally coming to the U.S. market. OLED taillights offer multiple selectable signatures, and clever projections (turn signals on the ground, door puddle lights) add theater. Optional power-opening doors further enhance the premium feel.

Inside, the cabin shifts toward a cleaner, more digital, and minimalist aesthetic with high-quality materials and ambient lighting. Drivers face an 11.9-inch digital cluster, while a 12.3-inch passenger display and large central touchscreen handle infotainment and controls. Physical buttons are minimized, with climate and many functions routed through the MMI system. A floating center console includes wireless charging pads, and optional Bang & Olufsen audio with headrest speakers and haptic feedback elevates the experience. Seating is more flexible than ever: seven-passenger standard or a six-passenger layout with second-row captain’s chairs (a long-overdue option). The third row remains best suited for kids or shorter trips.

Performance sees the biggest upgrade. The previous base turbo-four and optional V6 are gone; every U.S.-spec Q7 now gets a 2.9-liter twin-turbo V6 producing 429 horsepower and 442 lb-ft of torque. Audi claims 0-60 mph in 4.8 seconds—quick for a three-row SUV—with standard quattro all-wheel drive and an eight-speed automatic. An optional adaptive air suspension should deliver a composed ride with sportier modes available. Towing capacity remains strong at up to 7,700 pounds, aided by new trailer stability and maneuvering assists.

Cargo space improves to roughly 15 cubic feet behind the third row, expanding to about 38–44 cubic feet with the third row folded and up to 78 cubic feet maximum—noticeably better than the prior generation. Real-world fuel economy and long-term reliability remain to be seen, but early impressions from international drives praise sharper handling, a smoother ride, and a more mature overall character.

At an estimated starting price around $70,000 (higher than the outgoing model due to the standard powerful engine), the 2027 Q7 raises the bar in its class against rivals like the BMW X5 and Mercedes-Benz GLE. It delivers strong performance, advanced tech, and family-friendly versatility without trying to be the biggest or flashiest option in Audi’s lineup.
